All About Sunshine
(Yes, that’s my real name).
66 seconds of pure ☀️ vibes
After graduating with a BA in Creative Writing and a minor in Film & Visual Culture from the University of California at Riverside, I earned my MFA in Creative Writing with a concentration in non-fiction from The New School in New York. After having a rare brain tumor removed, I began a PhD program in Writing and English at the University of Wales where I spent six months living in the tiny coastal town of Aberystwyth before deciding to change course.
In my early days, I worked as a test prep tutor, film studio assistant, hostess at a fancy french restaurant and egg-slinger at a greasy spoon. Briefly, I considered training to become a ballroom dance instructor.
Outside of work, I collect creative projects and new hobbies. I’m into growing my own food and permaculture practices. I ferment things and then eat them for fun. When there’s not a global pandemic, I love to travel. I’ve visited 47 states (remaining: North Dakota, Delaware and North Carolina) and 15 countries. I dabble in photography, crochet and oil painting, read avidly, speak mediocre Spanish and even worse French.
Today, I live in Portland, Oregon with my partner and our two orange cats.
